Menometrorrhagia is the condition in which excessive bleeding occurs irregularly for a prolonged period of time. This bleeding appears more frequently than the normal period.
Causes For Menometrorrhagia:
The causes for this condition includes:
- Hormonal imbalances
- Endometriosis
- Cancer
- Uterine fibroid
Types Of Menometrorrhagia:
There are basically two types of menometrorrhagia. These are:
- Menorrhagia: It is the condition in which abnormal bleeding takes place for a longer duration of time. This bleeding happens at regular intervals and a heavy flow takes place. The main cause for this condition are abnormal clotting in blood, some kind of disorder in the endometrial lining of the uterus, any disruption in the regulation of menstrual periods.
- Metrorrahgia: It is the condition in which excessive bleeding takes place in perimenopausal women.In this condition heavy bleeding do not takes place but small spots of blood are leaked out of vagina at frequent intervals. There are many causes known for this condition to appear. These includes: ectopic pregnancy, endometriosis, hormonal imbalances, use of IUDs, ketosis diet, polyp, cervical cancer, enlarged uterus with dysmennorrhea, sexually transmitted disease, pelvic inflammatory disease, use of progestin.
Treatment Of Menometrorrhagia:
In case this condition is left untreated it can result in the women turning anemic. The heavy bleeding can also result in some psychological problems some other underlying problem can also take a grave shape in such circumstances. The treatment for this condition includes the medication for curing the root cause of the problem. In case this do not yeild the desired result then surgery is the only option left for the treatment of this condition.
