Pelvic Inflammatory disease (PID) is normally known as the infection of the utreus, fallopian tubes and other reproductive organs. This is a very serious condition which is caused due to sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea or chlamydia etc.

In this condition the infection damages the tissues in and around the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. This condition if not treated on time can result in some serious consequences which includes ectopic pregnancy, chronic pain in pelvic region, infertility and formation of abscesses and many more.

Causes Of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease:

The causes of pelvic inflammatory disease includes:

When movement of bacteria takes place from the vagina into the reproductive organs of the women.
An earlier episode of PID can also result in the fresh and more serious development of the disease.
The condition is more prominent in sexually active women who are not matured fully and are more susceptible to sexually transmitted diseases.
Women having sex with more than one person are also prone of getting infected to this disease.
Women having an intrauterine device inserted in their vagina are also more prone of getting infected.

Signs And Symptoms Of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease:

Some common symptoms which are associated with this disease includes:

Pain and tenderness in the abdominal part.
Back pain
Abdominal uterine bleeding
Heavy discharge from vagina
Sexual intercourse will be painful
Fever , nausea and vomiting

Treatment Of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease:

The treatment of this condition includes intake of antibiotics regularly which can treat bacterial infections. These antibiotics can be taken either orally or through injections.
