Chlamydia Infections

Chlamydia is bacterial infection which is caused by a bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis. This infection is a sexually transmitted infection which can be easily transmitted through oral, anal and vaginal sex. It can also be transmitted from the infected mother to her baby.

This infection is commonly found in women as compared to the men. But, this does not mean that men do not suffer from this disease. Men have white discharge from the penis and pain will can be there while urinating.

Conditions Related To Chlamydia Infections:

Genital Disease: This infection result in a number of genital diseases especially in women. Some common genital diseases caused by this infection in females includes Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), ectopic or pregnancy, and extreme situations result in infertility. PID is the infection in which lower abdominal pain is there and if left untreated it moves to the fallopian tubes and blocks them at their ends. This blocking of the fallopian tubes prevents the tubes from collecting the eggs which is ovulated by the ovaries.
Similarly in men also this infection results in the swelling of testicles, fever and a white discharge is there from penis. These symptoms also prevent the ejaculation. Thus, minor infertility.
Eye Diseases: The infection of chlamydia can also result in conjunctivitis in eyes. Acute conjunctivitis can even cause blindness. The infection reaches eyes through infected hands, sharing towels, coughing, sneezing, during child birth etc.
Rheumatoid Infections: Chlamydia has been found to be a reason for three common diseases which are arthritis, conjunctivitis and urethritis. All the three are commonly found in young men.
Perinatal Infections: Perinatal infections are very common in the babies who are who are born to the mother who suffer from chlamydia infections. The infection of chlamydia generally affects pregnant women by spontaneous abortion or premature birth, Conjunctivitis can be there which can even result in blindness and pneumonia.
