Thyroid Menopause

Thyroid and menopause usually go hand in hand. This is because it has been found that most of the symptoms of menopause and thyroid are almost identical. It is for the same reason that the women who undergo menopause can also suffer from thyroid.

Secondly, the disease of thyroid can be worsened in the menopausal years due to the changes in the hormonal levels of a women. Moreover, the symptoms of the both thyroid and menopause are very much similar. It is for the same reason that thyroid is generally overlooked during the menopausal years.

Menopause And Thyroid Gland:

Thyroid gland is one of the largest and essential gland of the human body. It secretes two hormones called thyroxine or T3 and triiodothyronine or T4. These are the two essential hormones which are responsible for the whole metabolism of the body. Apart from these calcitonine and calcium homoeostasis are the other two important hormones which thyroid gland secretes.

In case, the functioning of the thyroid gland is hindered it results in the condition of either hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism. In women these condition normally occur at the onset of the menopause. This is because menopause bring about a massive change in the hormonal levels of the women which results in any of these conditions to occur.

Similarity Between Menopause And Thyroid:

The symptoms of thyroid are very much similar to that of thyroid. It is for the same reason that it goes undetected in the women who undergo menopause. The symptoms which are common in both conditions are:
