Vasectonomy is a small surgery done to make the male sterile. It is a means of contraception. Vasectonomy is the procedure which blocks the tubes which allows the sperms to fllow into the semen.
Sperms are produced in men’s testis and are stored in a structure called epididymis. During the sexual intercoarse the sperms moves out of the epididymis through a tube called vas deferens and mixes with the other components of the semen to form a ejaculate.
The process of vasectonomy cuts or blocks the vas deferens from both the left and the right side. Once this process is done the semen of the man do not contain sperms any more.
Different Techniques Of Vasectonomy:
There are basically two techniques of vasectonomy. One is the conventional method and the other one is the mordern method.
- Conventional Method Of Vasectonomy: In this method, one or two cuts are made in the scrotum skin by the physician under the anesthetic influence. Now, the cut is made in the vas deferens and a small piece can be removed. Then, The cut ends are tied and scrotal incision is swed up. The same process is repeated on the other side also.
- Mordern Method Of Vasectonomy: It is the mordern method where no cut is made to carry out the procedure. In this technique, The vas defrens under the skin is recognised by the doctorand is held in its place with a small clamp. Now, using a special instrument a small punture is made in the skin. This opening is stretched open so that vas can be cut and tied. This process results in bleeding which is not very heavy. No stiches are required to close the punctures as they can heal on their own over the span of time. This process is an easy and cheap means for sterilization.
