Hysterectomy Menopause

Hysterectomy is the surgical procedure which is done in order to remove the uterus of the women. This surgery is performed due when non – invasive or less invasive alternatives have failed in providing relief against the health concerns like uterine fibroids, endometriosis, persistent pain and bleeding.

Menopause is the condition in which woman’s ovary no longer contains functional eggs. Due to this reason there is a drop in her hormonal levels of estrogen and testosterone. Many types of changes take place in a female when menopause occurs. Change in moods, increase in body fat, thicker waist, dry skin, vaginal dryness, itching and pain during inter course are some of the symptoms that can be noticed in the woman who under goes menopause.

Menopause In Women Who Have Had A Hysterectomy:

If a women has under gone hysterectomy prior to her menopause in order to treat any health issue like endometriosis or cancer and both the uterus and the ovaries are removed during the surgery; then the women will have the symptoms of menopause with the immediate effect. This type of menopause is known as surgical or induced menopause.

In case the ovaries are saved during the surgery then no menopause will be there immediately. It is because ovaries are there so hormones will be secreted by them because of which women will still have Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD). Although the periods will not be there but the cycle will still exist. When the natural time of menopause will arrive the women will enter into it. Sometimes the period of menopause can arrive earlier than the natural time.
