The notion of “midlife crisis” is a myth. It’s an example of a “meme”- “a unit of information in a mind whose existence influences events such that more copies of itself get created in other minds.” Richard Brodie

An example of a meme- “men are the stronger sex.”

Many of the commonly held beliefs, like those mentioned in the above post aren’t accurate. Midlife crisis is far less common than people think, It also collapses or clumps together three or four related issues like depression and re-assessing one’s life. A crisis isn’t age specific. It can occur at any age.

It’s more accurate to say that throughout our lifetime, we experience change and transition. Midlife and beyond can be the happiest, most fulfilling and peaceful time of our lives.
