Does Stress Increase the Risk of Breast Cancer in Young Women?

Until recently, breast cancer was prevalent in women who are over 50 years of age. Now more and more young women are increasingly diagnosed with breast cancer. It is found that young women who suffer multiple traumatic events are at a greater risk of developing breast cancer than women who do not suffer.

A group of Israeli researchers from Ben-Gurion University investigated the role of stressful life events on increasing the risk of breast cancer in young women. These young women were in the age group of 25-45 years. It is found in the study that women who suffer multiple stressful life events are 62% more likely to suffer from breast cancer than women who do not. Equally, it was also found that optimism can reduce the risk of breast cancer by 25%.
