Domestic violence is the exertion of control by one partner over the another in a live-in, marital and even in a love affair. It can be of any form: verbal, economic, sexual or physical. There is no such fact that it is restricted only to a limited strata as domestic violence is a truth in any socio-economic, religious or cultural background.
When Do You Know You Are A Victim Of Domestic Violence?
- You Are Afraid: When you are afraid of your partner it is a sure sign that you are being abused. The early signs of domestic violence are that he or she would ask whatever you are doing throughout the day, then he or she would want to be with you always. Your abusive partner may even stalk you to see whether you are speaking the truth.
- Jealousy: An abusive partner can be very jealous and a bit too much possessive about you. He or she might not let you leave him or her for work. Again, if your partner is abusive then he might get infuriated if you are having a simple chat with another individual.
- Pressures: In case, your partner asks you do something you don’t want to in the name of love and all that; it definitely is a form of domestic violence.
- Shifting Blame: If your abusive partner shifts the blame on someone else that means that he or she has no willingness top change his or her way. The truth is that he does not care for you.
Domestic violence would bring severe anxiety and depression in you. More often than not there is a need for psychiatric help. Children can never fully recover from the scars that domestic violence leave in their minds.
