We have some strange ideas about what exactly is having normal periods. Here are some misconceptions many of us have about it.
Eight Period Myth Busted
Given here are answers to questions that are often left unanswered or wrongly answered. Read them to know what is the truth behind the myths
- You Should Not Swim: Water eases cramps as well as flow, so there is nothing wrong in going for a swim. Make sure you wear a tampon and later have a good bath.
- You Need Bed Rest: It is a part of life and you do not want to waste those four or five days for this. But the situation is different for women who have severe cramps.
- You Cannot Get Pregnant During Periods: You can get pregnant even if you are having periods as it totally depends on when your body releases the egg. Do use a protection if you don’t want pregnancy.
- Sex During Periods Increases Flow: It is not true at all as one may just feel a gush after sex but it is not extra flow.
- Hot Shower Will Increase Flow: Not true again. Water relaxes your cramps, so no harm in having a hot shower.
- Irregular Periods Bad For Your Reproductive Health: Irregular periods do occur after you have had your first periods. It takes some six months or a year to become regular. This is a normal phenomenon.
- Clotting Will Stop You From Conceiving: Small clots are normal but if you have big ones then it is good to have it diagnosed by ultra-sonography.
- You Cannot Get Pregnant As You Are Menopausal: You are menopausal but you still have periods right, which means your body still releases an egg, so you do need protection.
