Large number of Asian –American women are going in for latest plastic surgery to bring about the required facial changes. Some preferred to tweak their eyelids and now the latest fad is to streamline their jaw line.
Around 20 Asian women have been visiting the California Pacific Medical Center run by Dr.Edward Miranda for a procedure, which is quite popular in Asia- to shear off some part of their jaws. They hope to have a more tapered jaw line, to avoid a boxy jaw line. Some claim that the main idea is to have a more Caucasian angle to the face, but how many will agree to this is a debatable question. Obviously, those undergoing the surgery would not like to be accused of getting rid of their ethnic look. Perhaps to look better may seem okay but to their change their identity completely may not be very palatable.
The procedure at the clinic costs about $12,000, but many get it done in Korea, where the operation is much cheaper. Such operations are also done in China although foreign expertise is preferred.
