The worst thing that can happen is a relationship going sour. It is upsetting and can depress a person. After all, you have nurtured it for years and hope that the relationship is on firm ground. Causes maybe many, but it is important to save the relationship if one can. Save it. It sounds preposterous. How can you do that? Here are some suggestions…..
Tips to Save a Sour Relationship
- Be more understanding. It may be difficult since you have differences, yet extra concern for the other person can do wonders for the relationship
- Overcome your ego. Often you are not willing to give in as your ego does not permit you to do so. Relent. The other person does matter to you. You have nurtured the relationship for so long, and would not like to let go off it so soon
- Do something special for the other person. Like dress up for him or her. Wear something he or she likes the most. Cook a special dinner. Go out with him or her to a favorite restaurant. The idea is to make the other person feel wanted.
- Buy a nice gift. Such gestures make the other person feel he or she is special. The gift should be something the other person really needs or would like to posses
- Listen attentively to what the other person is saying. Taking interest in the other person’s conversation can mend issues. It indicates your continued interest in his or her likes and dislikes
- Appreciate what the other person has done for you. Thank him or her.
- Physical touch also indicates love for the other person
- Surprises also make a difference. Doing something that the other person did not expect can do wonders to a relationship
- Take responsibility for your actions. If you are at fault admit it. Do not blame the other person for the sake of blaming
- Learn to apologize. Say sorry, if it is required. Do not hesitate to do so
- One should express one’s feeling. You should not hide your feelings from your partner. Honesty in a relationship is important
- Give some time for the relationship to mend itself. One must not rush matters. A partner takes time to sort out matters
A relationship means a lot to a person. One needs to work on it, if it goes sour. Terminating it without mending it does not appear to be the best solution. One should try patching up the differences and starting fresh again.
