Marriage means a lot to a woman. She has to think about her husband and children and do full justice to her home. Her concern is her security, both emotionally and financially. Her world centers around her home. Yet, there are times when she gives into temptations and her mind wanders. She looks for a change in her routine and gets entangled in a romantic affair with another man.
A woman experiences much trauma coping up with an affair, as she has to think of protecting her family life. How to cope up with the clandestine affair? What will happen if her husband comes to know? Will her marriage crumble like a cookie? Such questions arise in her mind. How does she cope up?
Can a Married Woman Have an Affair?
- Society generally expects a housewife to be loyal to the family. In many developing countries, the wife cannot even look at another man. A married woman usually settles down to her “ home” life and prefers it that way
- A married woman has to think of her children. They mean a lot to her. After all, she has given up a lucrative career for the sake of looking after children
- She feels guilty. As a housewife, her responsibility lies in ensuring a happy home. Her husband and children matter a lot to her
- Break up of the marriage would be very disastrous. The children would get affected badly. The healthy growth of the child is possible in a conducive home environment. It would also mean that she would have to fend for herself. The comforts of a home would not be there anymore
- It is very difficult for a housewife who is financially dependent upon her husband. She may not appreciate a divorce
- Her husband may or may not accept the affair. He would definitely head for the divorce court. Reconciliation efforts would have to be made in order to settle the issues that led her astray. They may have to consult a counselor to settle the marital dispute
- In many cases, the husband may be providing her well. He may be earning well. Naturally, it is difficult to give up such comforts. The man with whom she is having an affair may not be earning that much. She has to choose between the two. If she falls in love with the other man, it makes matters more difficult
Having an affair raises a lot of issues for a married woman. An economically dependent housewife has to think twice before she actually gets into an illicit relationship. The blissful life of a comfortable home may come to end.
