According to a recent study, men are more prone to marry younger women because of their fertility. The study has been led by Dr Samuli Helle, University of Turku. This study suggests that young women are attracted towards older men for their high social status and wealth.

From the study analysis, it was found that the “evolutionary fitness” has been maximized by men. “Evolutionary fitness” actually implies the capability of passing on the genes to their offspring by wedding those women who are 14 years younger.

“Those men had the highest number of offspring surviving to adulthood,” said Helle. It is often seen that most of the couples failed to settle down in a marriage that has huge age difference. This actually suggests that there are a lot of social factors at work too.
