Contemporary times have given enough proof as to how unsafe this world is for women. Staying single can involve great risks but women defy these threats by choosing to live isolated lives where they are content, bold and self-sustaining.
Safety Tips for Single Women:
Follow these tips to live a better and safer life at home:
- Ensure that your doors and windows have good locking mechanisms.
- Never leave duplicate keys in secret places outside your house. Instead leave it in the hands of a trusted neighbor.
- Lock all your doors even when you are out for a small task.
- Install an alarm or smoke that can identify entry into your house.
- Always use the peephole to check for someone at the door.
- Never open the door to strangers and if the plumber or electrician is home for repairs, make friends and neighbors aware or if possible have them around.
- If the street lights are not working near your home then lodge a complaint with other residents of that locality.
- Never give your car keys with the parking personnel.
- Avoid giving any information to strangers over the phone and report unnecessary calls to the telephone department.
- Don’t reveal your internet or banking passwords to anyone.
- If you notice strangers loitering around your house inform the local police.
- Keep your house well lit and don’t switch off all the lights at night.
- Leave the radio playing to dupe burglars and others in order to give an impression that you are home.
- Shift your daily routines so that nobody is able to observe your daily plans.
- Try keeping little or no valuables at home. Keep them in bank lockers or safes.
- Before employing domestic help for yourself inquire into their historical records and references.
Living alone is not a crime but living single can entail a lot of troubles. So manage your safety well and live a peaceful life.
